Prime Slap Rummy
A set-building game · Two decks · 2–5 players · Ages 7 and up
The four colors.
Every card uses these four colors. Each color means one number. Always.
Setup
1. Shuffle both decks into one pile of 104 cards.
2. Deal 7 cards to each player. Keep your hand hidden.
3. Place remaining cards face down as the draw pile.
4. Flip the top card face up to start the discard pile.
How to play
On your turn
Draw one card. Then discard one card.
Draw from the pile or take the top discard. End your turn by placing one card face up on the discard pile.
Laying down a set
Before you discard lay down a valid set of 3 or more cards.
A set is valid when every card shares all the same factor colors throughout.
Adding to sets
You may add cards to any set on the table.
The card must share all the same factor colors as the existing set.
Winning
First player to empty their hand wins the round.
All other players score one penalty point per card remaining. Lowest total score wins.
Valid sets
Blue family — all made from 2s
4 = 2x2 · 8 = 2x2x2 · 16 = 2x2x2x2 · All blue. Valid.
Blue-Red family — all share 2 and 3
6, 12, 18, 24 all contain blue and red throughout. Valid.
Not valid — colors must match throughout
6 = blue+red · 8 = blue only. 8 has no red.
The Wild Card — 1
Not prime and not composite. Plays as a wild — joins any set as any color. Two in the deck. Use it to complete a set you could not otherwise finish.
Prime Sets
Extended prime cards carry diamond markers. They cannot join composite sets but form their own sets with other primes sharing the same diamond color.
The rule
Three or more prime cards with the same diamond color form a valid prime set.
Blue diamonds match blue diamonds. Red matches red. The number does not matter — the diamond color does.
Blue diamond prime set
11, 13, and 23 all carry blue diamonds. Valid.
Mixed diamond card — 37
37 carries a blue and red diamond. Declare which prime set it joins when you play it.

Using the wild with a large prime
47 has three blue diamonds. Use the wild to complete the set.
Parent tip: Do not explain the diamond system before the first game. Let your child discover the prime family on their own.
Winning and scoring
First player to empty their hand wins the round.
All other players score one penalty point per card remaining.
Lowest total score after agreed rounds wins.
Optional: Wild cards remaining in hand score 3 penalty points each.
